Anyone old enough to remember when some psychopath was putting poison in Tylenol bottles is old enough to remember a time when over the counter medication was easy to open. All you had to do was twist the cap and out came the pills-no need for scissors, knives, teeth, screwdrivers or sharp fingernails.
That all changed when it was discovered that bottles were being poisoned right on
store shelves. Today, packaged medication is all "tamper proof" to the point where just opening the damn things can give you a headache. This is how we're protected; it's hard even for the intended user to get the pill.
Well, similar changes have been made to protect us from scandals involving crooked senior management. The most obvious is Sarbanes Oxley, which is in many ways like all the stinking boxes, plastic and lid covers that protect the pills. But there are issues that have been created by scandals like Enron's that haven't been resolved by tamper proofing - like employee loyalty.
