What are the odds of hitting it big in Powerball? One in a few million?
Surely, the chances are slim and yet an incredible number of people play the numbers every day.
Well, if you're a big time corporate executive, you might be able to save yourself a trip to the convenience store. An interesting story published by Forbes highlights the lottery blowing luck of executives receiving options grants on certain fortuitous (read: low-priced) days.
Analysis shows that options grants held by William McGuire CEO of United Health Group (nyse: UNH) from 1995 to 2002 had a 1 in 200 million lucky chance of hitting those strike prices on just the right days.
Similarly, six grants held by Jeff Rich, former CEO of Affiliated Computer Services (nyse: ACS) beat the odds by 1 in 300 billion on a random basis.
Imagine: Being lucky enough to make it to the Executive Boardroom AND winning the Lottery!
