BP (NYSE: BP) says it will try to get half its production up and running by the end of August with hopes to restore the rest as soon as possible. The oil company is facing the wrath of just about everyone nowadays for allowing their pipes to the corrode to the point where a shutdown was necessary.
BP has had a number of recent mishaps including last year's deadly fire at a Texas refinery and suspicion that in 2004 they tried to corner the US propane market.
Meanwhile, back at the pump, I'm paying about $60 for a tank of gas. It's not enough to stop me from driving, but enough to make me question each errand before I get in the car.
I started to wonder: at what price per gallon would I seriously curtail my driving? I live in the country- far from any mass transit. There aren't any businesses that are close enough to bike to. But I hate to waste money- so for me, $5 a gallon would certainly create radical changes in my behavior. I'd be ordering as much as I can on-line, looking for companies that deliver, and bundle all my errands/shopping into consolidated trips.
What about you? What's your pain point?
