An expose of bad businesses and their unethical practices

The multi-billion dollar military procurement business appears to be riddled with fraud. Called the “Iron Triangle,”  the relationship among the Pentagon, budget-setting, and defense contractors, has often been a breeding ground for graft and corruption. The huge amounts being spent on the so-called “War on Terrorism” just multiply the problem.

A congressional oversight committee has identified problems of fraud, mismanagement, and poor value for expenditures in $726 billion (yes, $billion) worth of defense contracts. As with most numbers that are involved in current US military operations, the dollar value that could be involved in these problems are impossible to envision.

The almost certain involvement of members of the military and members of Congress in these issues makes the matter even more repugnant. These are people supposedly devoted to the protection of the American people getting involved instead in placing personal gain ahead of duty and responsibility. That is Bad Business at the highest levels; it should call for investigation and punishment at the highest levels.

The civilian Defense industry itself has been suspect for years, and scandal has repeatedly rocked the industry. The current volume of business being done has not doubt attracted a high volume of business-people with poor ethics. These people, by extension and contract, also had a duty to the American people and let them down badly.  Punishment for this deplorably Bad Business should be swift and severe.
