An expose of bad businesses and their unethical practices

The International Herald Tribune reports that the recently discovered corruption scandal at Samsung continues to snowball. Prosecutors now are calling the scandal a case of Samsung’s Board Chairman having masterminded  “a massive scheme of bribery and illegal transactions.” Specifically, the government accuses Lee Kun Hee of creating a slush fund for his own use, bribing government officials, and conspiring to help his son take control of Samsung.

This is the latest in a series of scandals that has plagued Samsung in recent years, but it is the first time that a government probe has reached the highest level of company management. There are political elements to consider in this issue. Samsung officials say that the whistleblower responsible for these latest allegations, a former Samsung internal lawyer, is making the allegations due to personal grudges he holds against the company and its executives.

If the allegations against Lee Kun Hee are proven, it would be one of the largest cases of Bad Business ever uncovered in Korea.
