Yet another two-faced politician bites the dust, and this one is up close and personal to yours truly. I have voted for Paul Morrison a number of time, both for District Attorney of the County I lived in and for Attorney General of Kansas. I did so not because I particularly liked the man, but because he seemed ready to prosecute illicit behavior whenever and wherever it occurred. I voted for him, in brief, because he seemed to be an upstanding, honest man.
Morrison has just resigned after a scandal. My married “honest man” was guilty of having an affair with a married woman, thereby being most certainly guilty of lying to his wife, and by extension of lying to a lot of the people around him, including the voters of Johnson County and the State of Kansas. I find that to be unconscionable, and I am very disappointed in Paul Morrison.
Even without the more sordid political activities that are rumored to be a part of his unethical behavior, Morrison deserves to be run out of town for pretending to be what he was not. How can you trust a man who has proven that his wife and fiends can’t trust him? When I think of the businesses he has sanctimoniously prosecuted for ethical violations, I just have to shake my head at his audacity. To me, Morrison personifies Bad Business.
