According to Wayde at Gizmo Republic, the expensive Monster Cables that the clerks at the electronics store try to sell you are not at all worth the money. It is his contention that the Monster HDMI cables, at least, are no better than their less expensive counterparts, and that the much higher priced Monster Cables are a rip-off. He says that no matter how hard the store salesman may try to sell you these cables as an accessory to your purchase, they just are not worth the money.
T

he referenced article clearly states that “Electronically there is no difference between inexpensive HDMI cables that sell for $20 and nitrogen infused gold tipped Monster cables.” Further, Wayde states that the way the stores make the television picture look better on the Monster-equipped receiver is that they are using HDMI cables on that one and not composite cables. The fact that the HDMI cables happen to be Monster has nothing to do with it; any HDMI cable will provide the same quality. This sort of salesmanship is awfully close to fraud.
When I first read this article, it seemed like a small thing, though representative of very poor business ethics. But when you stop to multiply the number of people that are overcharged by the sellers of Monster Cables, it becomes sizable Bad Business, indeed. I was able to find a lot of corroboration for Wayde’s opinion. It does seem like the more expensive Monster Cables are pushed so hard by the stores for a reason; they make the stores a lot more money. Don’t bite on this one.
