An expose of bad businesses and their unethical practices

It is pleasant to be able to occasionally report good news on the business ethics front. BB&T (Branch Banking and Trust) of Charlotte, NC has announced that it will be giving Greensboro College in Greensboro, NS $250,000 to promote undergraduate education and research on business ethics. The announcement was made on Christmas Day. The college will use the money to fund a course on “the ethical and moral foundations of a capitalist society” and to fund public seminars and forms in the area of business ethics.

According to Craven E. Williams, President of the College, “The grant from BB&T will enable Greensboro College to explore the moral and ethical foundations of a capitalistic society. At the heart of the offering will be the basic philosophy that there is a bond between economic and political freedom.” The grant will also be used in part by the Students in Free Enterprise chapter at Greensboro.
