This column, under a previous author, has reported on the Rip Off Report before. Since my tenure began, I have had several comments about that Website. Today I ran across
one blog entry and
then another that have more than a little to say about the issue. Neither of the columns have a positive word to say about the Rip Off Report.

Both of these columns accuse the Rip Off Report of spamming tactics to get their pages to rank higher in Google. The arguments made are excellent and I do not see how they can be wrong. These tactics include posting of duplicate pages on duplicate sites, creating pages without actual user value, and the loading of pages with otherwise irrelevant key words.
One of the observations from the first references site is telling: “The website - Rip Off Report - essentially earns a living through extortion of businesses based on the search results (almost like a reverse reputation management campaign). To me, this seems like Bad Business personified and exactly the opposite of good business ethics.
